2019 Autumn Workshop: Empirical Methods in Organization and Management Research

Brief introduction

The purpose of the Autumn Workshop (AW) is to provide scholars and students with training courses concerning empirical methods in organization and management research. We invite Dr. Shuang Ren to introduce the fundamentals of multilevel modelling using Mplus. What’s more, we also invite Prof. Robert to our seminar. Prof. Robert will share research experiences with our students.

Introduction of lecturers

Shuang Ren, Associate Professor, Deakin University, is interested in international human resource management, Chinese management and leadership development. She has already published more than twenty articles in journals like the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Personnel Review, Sloan Management Review, Leadership & Organization Development Journal and Human Resource Management Review. She is the recipient of 2019 Academy of Management Best Paper with Practical Implications in the OB stream and 2015 Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management Early Career Researcher Award.

Robert Wood, Distinguished Professor, University of Technology Sydney Director, UTS Futures Academy, focuses on questions related to human adaptability and the personal, social and contextual factors that lead some people to accept and respond adaptively to challenges while others avoid, reject or retreat from them. He has already published many articles in journals like Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management and Human Resource Management Journal. He has won a lot of awards like Member of Society for Organizational Behavior-USA (2003), Jay Forester award (2016) for best publication in system dynamics area over previous 5 years (with Shayne Gary), Georgia Babladelis award (2016) for the best paper published in Psychology of Women Quarterly (with Victor Sojo and Anna Genat) and Dean’s Research Excellence Award (2016), University of Melbourne.
